The Austrian mixed Choir “Heimatecho” has been singing together since 1980 when a group of members of the Austrian-Canadian Society got together to rehearse some traditional songs for the Christmas party at the newly opened Austrian-Canadian Cultural Centre. Over the years 30 singers joined the choir, which performs at various club functions and also sings at senior homes and hospitals. New singers are always welcome to join the choir. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. For more information please call Frieda Foidl 403 246-0259. Choir Report Dear Friends and Members: Fall is here again and those awesome fall colors give us new energy for the busy time when we practice our songs for the season. Back from a beautiful summer break, choir members started practicing again in September and our first performance was the Austrian National Holiday celebration at the Club in October. We sang the National Anthem of Austria and Canada and some of our beloved folk songs. On November 10th we are honored to be able to take part in the continuance of the Choral Tradition at the Trinity Lodge Retirement Centre. On December 8th we will sing at the Prince of Peace in Calgary and December 11th at the University in Edmonton for the Central European Christmas Concert under the guidance of musicians and choirs of different descents and culture. It is so important to keep our heritage alive with our Austrian music. our homeland that has done so well. We would like to welcome new choir members: Joanna Chan, Nicole Roth & Ulrike Eccher. Thank you for joining our Choir Heimatecho. Also we would like to thank our Choir director, Jeannie Park, she keeps us happy with new songs and never tires practicing with us. Choir Heimatecho's Christmas Dinner will be held Dec. 16th at the Austrian Club, hope to see all the Choir members with their friends. Best wishes and Seasons greetings to you all. Sincerely, Frieda Foidl The Hiking Group 2011 From May to September we have had a very enjoyable hiking season.
