Prairie Saengerfest on May 28th, 2017

It was established in 1968 and this year for the last time, 9 German speaking choirs from across Western Canada performed at the Prairie Saengerfest in Calgary at the Grey Eagle Casino. It was amazing to see everyone performing and keeping the tradition and heritage alive. The concert afternoon was opened by special guest, the Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Lois E. Mitchell. Father Rosenbaum from Saint Boniface Catholic church, Paul Hermann and Bert Raugust were the men that started the Saengerfest in 1968; also present was the Austrian Consul, Nikolaus Demiantschuk. At the end of the concert there was a mass ensemble on stage, all the participating choirs performed together, what an amazing performance and what a pleasure to experience.
